Country Music Television
(also known as CMT) is an satellite television channel and an
American basic cable channel that is owned by the MTV Networks Music
& Logo Group. On CMT you can watch at country music videos, movies,
taped concerts, biographies of country music stars, reality programs
and game shows.
CMT also offers country
music-oriented shows, country lifestyle-oriented shows, and older
shows and of course movies that prominently feature country or
Southern-rock music. CMT has become a pop-culture channel like
MTV and VH1 in the last few years. CMT broadcasts specials, reality
programs as well as music videos but they devote the most time to
music videos. CMT's music mix is mainly focused on mainstream
country songs, but also includes occasional videos from crossover,
Americana and alternative music.
